About

Slettefjellrunden is a spectacular but demanding cycling tour. It contains a tough climb from the toll station at Slettefjellvegen up to its highest point at  1315 m.a.s.l. - an elevation gain of over 600 meters on only 6 km! In addition there might be some traffic on the road. But nonetheless this is a popular and renowned cycling tour with spectacular nature and cultural heritage sites to be explored on route.

Directions:
Follow road 51 to Skammestein and turn right towards Ryfoss. Stay on this road and keep going in the direction of Ryfoss until you see the signs to Høre and Høre Stave Church. Follow the road that passes by the church and keep going until you have passed by Bakken and Lokreim. (See map). When you reach the next intersection, turn right and go through the road barrier, onto “Slettefjellvegen” (the Slettefjell road). This is the toughest part of the trip and you can prepare yourself for a 6 km climb from 703 meters to 1315 meters! We recommend a short stop and a 10 min walk to the waterfall Sputrefossen. Once you reach the top, enjoy a spectacular view of Valdres and Jotunheimen. Continue downhill for approx. 5,6 km and turn right towards Lykkja and Beito. From there you will easily find your way back to Beitostølen by following the signs.
