The municipality of Vang is located furthest north and west in Valdres and is probably the most scenic with its mighty mountain landscape. An exceptional area for outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling, climbing, fishing and skiing. The King's road across Filefjell, Mjølkevegen, Stølsruta and Jotunheimen are just some of the treats Tyin-Filefjell has to offer.
Stave churches
Two of Norway's 28 stave churches are located here: Øye and Høre. In the summer season, they are both open to visitors.
Sandalen
The area of Sandalen is very exotic and worth a visit in the summer. Sanddalsstølen, a summer farm high up in the mountains, welcomes visitors 2-3 days a week, serving the traditional sour cream porrige, cured meat and "lapper", a type of sour cream pancake.
Tyin-Filefjell
The Tyin-Filefjell area is characterised by mighty mountain landscape. This is the southern gateway to Jotunheimen and a popular area for all types of hiking, including the more advanced peak ascends such as Uranostinden and Falketind. Other popular activities in this area are cycling, fishing and during winter, skiing.
The King's Road across Filefjell
This is one of the most spectacular historic roads in Norway. The King's road across Filefjell runs from the narrow and dramatic fjord landscape at Sognefjorden, across the Filefjell mountains and down to the rural villages in Valdres. This is a unique hiking experience for young and old.
