The Knausehøgdene Ridge at Beitostølen
About
The Knausehøgde traverse between Gardli and Beitostølen south - a hike in our green mobility concept
Take the bus from Beitostølen to Gardli (summer service; departures are found on www.nor-way.no and www.entur.no).This is a route within the trail network of Beitostølen. Here all intersections are numbered, and you simply walk from number to number. The trail map can be picked up for free at the Beitostølen tourist office, or you can download it here.
We have chosen a traverse over the top of the Knausehøgdene ridge above Beitostølen that renders far vistas towards the mountain of Bitihorn and Jotunheimen massif to the north and over large parts of Valdres to the south.
From Beitostølen, take the bus to Gardli (summer service; departures are found on www.nor-way.no and www.entur.no) and hike from intersection to intersection in the following order: Start 46 - 45 - 44 - 38 - 37 - 36 - 33 - 32 - 25 - 24 - (optional side trip to 23) - 22 - 21 - 20 - 19 - 9 - 18 - 17 - 16 - 15 - 14
You can also walk in the opposite direction and return to Beitostølen by bus. In this case it is important to give a clear signal to the driver that you wish to embark.
Distance: approx. 9 km
Duration: approx. 2-3 timer
Elevation difference: approx. 235 m up and 390 m down
PS: Instead of taking the bus, you can walk up the 3 kilometers to Gardli; either on the sidewalk along the main road 51 or along the trail green 1 south of road 51. You can also take the ski lift (operating during sumemr and autumn holidays) to point 51 and from there cross the flats via points 52 and 53 to the start of the ridge at point 37 from where you follow the description above.
