From road 51 between Leira and Gol, exit in Tisleidalen towards Merket. There’s a winter parking lot just before you reach Merket Kurssenter.

On the opposite side of the road, keep to the right uphill towards Timannstølen. At two places you can choose between a right-hand side or left-hand side loop. We recommend keeping to the right (west) both times. Later, you pass the summer farm of Timannstølen and reach the outflow of Lake Hærevartnet. Here the loop around Lake Hærevatnet and Haugsetfjellet starts. Keep left, and you will come back from the right later. You pass the summer farm Huldrastølen and will then climb steadily up to the highest point of the tour, the saddle between Haugsjøfjellet and Haugsetfjellet. In the crossing after 4,2 km you turn right/straight and keep to the right in all following track crossings until you are back at the bridge over the river out of Hærevatnet. Now you turn left here and can enjoy a slight 7 km downhill run via Timannstølen back to Merket.
