Fish species: trout and perch

«Matkista» is the name for several small ponds west of the Mosvatnet lake. There are many good fishing spots in this area. It is possible to walk around the lakes, but you should have high rubber boots. Worm and spoon lure are the most recommended methods here. Vestre Slidre Fjellstyre (www.vestre-slidre-fjellstyre.no) has a little cabin for free use at Matkista (3 bunk beds). Bring your own food and necessary equipment. There’s also a boat at the disposal for anglers. Neither the cabin nor the boat can be pre-booked.

Directions
From the E16, exit by the Ulnes church and follow the signs towards Vaset and Panoramavegen (toll road). Continue on the same road in the direction of Nøsen and turn right by the containers, a few hundred meters before you reach Nøsen Fjellhotell. Keep going for another 4 km until you reach the road crossing at the river Buaråne. Keep to the left and continue for another 1.2 km. There is a parking area at the starting point of the trail to Matkista (1–2 km walk).
