Storefjell circuit
About
This tour follows groomed tracks. Please check the latest grooming status at www.storefjell.no
From road 51 between Leira and Gol, exit at Hammerstad and follow the signs towards Storefjell (toll road). Parking at Storefjell ski- og akesenter.
This tour starts and ends at the track crossing S2, at the base station of the Storefjell ski lift. It follows the yellow and blue track on Storefjell’s own winter cross country skiing track map. It runs through open country above the tree line. The tracks are frequently groomed for both classical and free style.
From the starting point, follow the yellow circuit slightly up a hill towards crossing S3. Here the track splits up, and you choose the right one further uphill towards crossing S8. There you find a warming up hut and enjoy a great view towards the Hemsedal mountains and Valdres. Continue towards crossing S7 in a slightly downhill run and further on to crossing S6, also called Triogønguhaugkrysset, with a great view. Continue towards crossing S5. Here, you change into the blue circuit and head towards crossing T5. From there, continue towards S4 with a warming up hut along the track and finish via S3 back to start at S2.
There are no difficult parts other than a medium challenging downhill run between T5 and S4. In total, this circuit is 10 km long and very family friendly.
Tip: You may walk in the tracks between the crossings S2, S3 and S8. Please be aware of skiers.
