Directions and tour description
Drive from Fagernes towards Lenningen and Nythun. Parking at Nythun Mountain Lodge is against a fee.

The trails start on the opposite side of the road from the lodge. After approx. 50 m, keep to the left uphill towards Tveitastølen. After an ascend you cross a wide, open plateau (approx. 2 km) and reach a crossing at its far side. Turn left here, for another ascend and keep straight ahead in the next two crossings.
The tracks climb all the way around the mountain Smørlifjellet until you reach the highest point of the tour to the southeast of the summit. In nice weather we recommend a side trip outside the groomed tracks to the summit point (1160 m.a.s.l.).
From the saddle, the tracks turns right, and you can now enjoy a beautiful long downhill run with view to the mountain Binnhovdknatten ahead. At the next crossing, a nice place for a rest in sunny weather, turn right for a short, but steep ascend and then a fairly steep and curvy, potentially challenging (under hard snow conditions) downhill run to the summer farming area of Pilset. From Pilset, the trail turns right and leads back towards Tveitastølen and Nythun.

We recommend to treat yourself to a coffee and a delicious homemade cinnamon bun at Nythun Mountain Lodge before you head home.
