Some of our best cross-country skiing tracks have been made accesible by bus! This is a great opportunity to choose a more environmentally friendly way of transport and in addition you don't have to bother about parking. Another bonus is that you can make a one-way tour and take the bus back or vice versa. Simple! Below you can find an overwiew over the tours that are doable by bus in the period from 16. February to approx. the end of April 2024.
Bygdin - Gravolstjednet - Beitostølen
This is a tour of 13 kilometers in breathtaking high mountain landscape on the doorstep of Jotunheimen. It leads from Bygdin along the southern shoreline of Lake Vinstre and crosses over a pass to Beitostølen. The the bus to Bygdin and ski back. Find a detailed tour description here.
Bygdin - Båtskaret - Beitostølen
This 13.5 kilometer-tour passes though the saddle of Båtskaret and crosses open plains before it leads through some mountain birch forest in the end. It suits experienced cross-country skiers since the downhill passage from the saddle to the plains is steep and potentially demanding under difficult conditions. Take the bus to Bygdin and ski back. Beitostølen - Bygdin
This panoramic skiing tour leads from Beitostølen towards the mountain Bitihorn and the Jotunheimen range, ending at Bygdin. With help of the ski lift at Beitostølen you gain height effortlessly and start on the plateau above the ski slopes. There will still be some climbs but there are manageable. Before taking the bus back, we recommend to enjoy something good to eat and drink at the ski café at Bygdin Fjellhotell. A detailed tour description can be found here.
Valdresflye - Bygdin (during Easter)
During Easter the bus from Beitostølen to Bygdin continues further up to the high mountain plateau Valdresflye and over, to Gjendesheim. At this time there will also be a groomed track from the plateau to Bygdin. This way, you can either enjoy a short downhill tou in the high mountains or start your tour to Beitostølen all the way up there. And on the way - or before you hop on a bus back from Bygdin - enjoy a good bite and a hot chocolate at the ski café at Bygdin Fjellhotell. A detailed tour description can be found here!
Valdresflye - Rasletinden
A ski tour over 2000 m.a.s.l, Rasletinden (2105 moh) from the high mountain plateau Valdresflye is a good choice that is accessible from when the road up tp Valdresflye opens approx. 1. April. Find a detailed tour description here.
Bygdin - Bitihorn
Bitihorn is "the mountain over all mountains" in the area around Beitostølen and a wellknown landmark. It is also popular on skis and the view is breathtaking! Starting and ending point is at Bygdin. Find a detailed tour description here.
Bygdin - Synshorn
The mountain Synshorn is not only knoen for the Via Ferrata in its spectacular southern cliff during summer. During winter, the less steep "back side" is a very popular ski tour destination. If you think the downhill part was a over too quickly, combine Synshorn with Fagerdalshøe or Mefjellet and get several runs. Find a detailed tour description here.
