Welcome to the historical farm Bergatn, which is a National war memorial. Dramatic events took place on this farm in April 1940. Germans who had taken the farm and captured 25 civilians were attacked and defeated by Norwegian soldiers, while the civilians were confined in their homes. Only one of the civilians was killed. His Majesty King Olav V inaugurated the farm as a national war memorial in 1986.

Getting there:
Follow the E16 from Fagernes to Bagn (toll road), drive through the village and exit onto the old E16 back towards the North. After approx. 600 m, after a sharp right bend, exit to the right. You can park on the shoulder of the exit road or 50 m further ahead. 

Tour description:
Follow the gravel road uphill (keep straight ahead in the first crossing where it turns into a forest track) and after approx. 550 m, find the marked trail that exits on the right-hand side. The farm, Bergatn, is a National War Memorial site. The trail is partly marked and passes through the Gråbeinhølet, where there were combat actions in 1940 during World War II. Information boards along the way tell about the events. (Norwegian only). There are picnic tables and benches at Bergatn.
