Fønhuskoia
About
Fønhuskoia is located near Lake Strøen in Vassfaret Nature Reserve. Here there are many options for hiking, bicycling and skiing in varied terrain. There are also great opportunities for both fishing and paddling.
Fønhuskoia is available for prebooking.
Facilities
Fønhuskoia is an unattended DNT cabin with 21 beds. In addition there is a tiny cottage with 3 beds, which is decorated in a farmhouse style. Here you'll also find an exhibition from the author Mikkjel Fønhus. There is no running water, but you have a water source right outside the cabin. A solar cell panel gives limited electricity (12 V) to the cabin. There is a deck with a beautiful view over Lake Strøen. You need to bring your own bedsheets or sleeping bag, food and beverage (except water). Be aware that the cabin is locked, so you need to bring a DNT key. Please note that those who pre-book a stay at Fønhuskoia have the first right to the beds, but everyone is welcome even though they haven't pre-booked.
How to get there
You can drive almost all the way to the cabin all year around. Park at a gravel pit, approx. 4 kilometres after turning in to the Reset road towards Strøsdammen. From the gravel pit it is about 750 metres to the cabin along an unmarked private road. Another option is to continue approx. 500 metres further to a new sign towards Fønhuskoia and the junction to Sandvika. Here you can park on the right side of the road and follow a trail with blue markings for approx. 350 metres to the cabin. People with disabilities can drive all the way to the cabin, but need a code to open up the closed gate. Please call the cabin administrator in advance: (+47) 413 06 784
Enjoy your trip!
