Fishing from boat is recommended. The lake has some shallow areas and it is regulated. Take necessary precautions. You can get some large trouts in this lake using worm, lure or wobbler. We recommend getting the bait down to approx. 4 meters in order to get the best sized trout. The last weeks in July are said to be the best in Vinstre. Haugseter Fjellstue has boat rental as well as rental of equipment for children.   
The licence for Vinstre is not valid in the western parts of the lake that enters into the municipality of Vang, nor the Melby sameige or in Bjørnehølene on the far east side. These areas are marked on the map.

Follow road 51 past Beitostølen towards Bygdin. Turn right on Jotunheimvegen (toll road).
