Along the former railway line of Valdresbanen today there’s a sealed walking and cycling path that stretches between Fagernes and Bjørgo. The whole trip is 34 km return, but it is possible to do a shorter trip and turn around wherever you wish. The terrain is easy cycling and mostly flat. Partly you cycle along Lake Strandefjorden and partly through forests, along gardens and fields. 

Difficulty: easy−moderate, very nice for families with children due to the lack of traffic
Distance: approx. 34 km return (from the Shell station at Fagernes)
Elevation gain: approx. 312 m (conveniently spread out)

Tour description:
From Fagernes, follow the walking and cycling path along Lake Strandefjorden to Leira. In the round­about, keep straight ahead and continue on the old railway line via Noraker farm and the village of Aurdal to Bjørgo station. The tour is well signed and suitable for everyone. Return on the same way. 

Tips:
* Stop for a cup of coffee or an ice cream at Noraker farm. A straircase leads from the cycling path up to the local delicacy store and café.
* At Leira Camping there’s a nice public beach for a swim on a warm summer day.
