Mjølkevegen is a quite demanding route, which is why many cyclists choose to rent e-bikes. This makes your ride much more enjoyable!
If your plans are to cycle the entire route with a rental bike, your starting point in this case will be Lemonsjø Fjellstue instead of Vinstra (which has no bike rental). At Lemonsjø, you find the bicycle rental Jotunheimen Bike & Hike. After you have finished the tour, you return to Lemonsjø by bus (approx. from the middle of June to the middle of August, www.entur.no)
If you on the other hand are planning to cycle parts of the route between Beitostølen and Golsfjellet/Gol, we recommend renting with Fjellkjeden which runs the Intersport stores in Beitostølen, Fagernes, Vaset, Tyinkrysset and Storefjell Hotel/Gol. The stores cooperate tightly, so it is possible to request one-way rentals. Choose the bike that suits you and book well ahead.
Keep in mind that it is possible to cycle to Fagernes from Golsfjellet, instead of Gol. At Fagernes there’s a Fjellkjeden-store and correspondence with the busses to Lemonsjø (www.entur.no) and Oslo (Valdresekspressen, www.nor-way.no).
All bicycle rentals also have repair service!
