Safety code in alpine skiing centres
- Responsibility to avoid accidents - Behave in a way that you are not a danger for yourself or others. You are to be in control of your skiing or snowboarding equipment at all times and are responsible to avoid damage on persons or material.
- Adjust your speed to the conditions - You are to ski in a controlled way and to adjust both your speed and way of skiing after your own skills, terrain, weather/visibility, snow and slope conditions and traffic.
- Right of way - The skier coming from behind is responsible to avoid collisions.
- Take over maneuvers and downhill - You can pass others in the slope as long as you keep enough distance for them to be able to make controlled as well as uncontrolled moves and maneuvers. Straight downhill skiing is prohibited, except under organised training.
- Starting, entering slopes and uphill turnes - When entering a slope or turning uphill you need to make sure that you don't put others or yourself in danger. This also applies for starting after a stop.
- Stopping in the slope - Unless absolutely necessary you are not to stop in narrow passages or places with limited visibility. After a fall at such a place you are to move away as quickly as possible.
- On foot in the slope - Keep to the outer edges of the slope if you are on foot.
- Respect signs and markings - Follow signs, markings and orders by slope patrol.
- Help after accidents and injuries - Any skier or snowboarder has the responsibility to assist and help in case of accidents or injuries.
- Identification - In case of an accident or damage witnesses and helpers have to identify themselves.
It is strictly prohibited to stay in the slopes outside opening hours. Snow production, slope work and grooming can pose life danger.
Alpine skiing bears a certain risk. Drugs and skiing do not go well together. Any violation of the rules in the safety code can result in expultion from the skiing area.
